Job Title: Hone Machinist
The pay ranges for this position is $16 to $17.50 per Hour
Reports To: Shop Supervisor
Summary: Under minimal supervision, this position hones ring gages for pre-lap processing and hones, laps and assembles air ring gages. Work includes the fabrication, modification or repair of products sold by and tools used at Western Gage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, other duties and tasks may also be performed):
- Inspect provided material for appearance and conformance to requirements specified on work orders before beginning and after completing any operation; notify supervisor of any discrepancy or concern
- Hone, lap and flat grind rings
- Grind laps
- Chamfer and put radius on edges of rings
- Operate hone machines, grinders and lathes
- Perform chrome plating process safely and accurately
- Track attendance and time in the ERP system, practices effective time management
- Abide by safety requirements and procedures
- Comply with all policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors
- Other tasks and duties as required
- Job Title: Gage Sales – Inside
- The pay ranges for this position is $20 to $24 per Hour
Reports To: Vice President/Gaging Products Manager
Summary: Under minimal supervision, this position analyzes customer requirements and prepares quotes for products, contacts potential and existing customers to solicit orders and assists in all aspects of customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, other duties and tasks may also be performed):
- Review customer requirements for gage applications
- Seek technical advice from engineering/manufacturing staff on feasibility of custom gaging applications
- Gather documentation from internal and externals sources to recommend gaging solutions, present quotes for same to customers
- Follow up on quotes and sales leads
- Review orders after set up, as required by staffing levels
- Provide tech support and minor trouble-shooting, escalate calls as appropriate, issue RMAs when necessary
- Assist customer service with providing order status information to customers; convey customer requests to appropriate persons with Western Gage
- Relay customer feedback (positive or negative) to the appropriate supervisor
- Track attendance in the ERP system, practice effective time management
- Perform work accurately, neatly and on time
- Comply with all policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors

Job Title: Material Processing/Shipping/Machine Maintenance
- The pay ranges for this position is $16 to $17.50 per Hour
Reports To: Shop Supervisor
Summary: Under minimal supervision, process outgoing shipments, loads & unloads heat treat, bead blast parts after heat treat process, basic machine maintenance, flat grinding and slot grinding and chemical process maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, other duties and tasks may also be performed):
- Inspect provided material for appearance and conformance to requirements specified on work orders or shipping documents before beginning and after completing any operation; notify supervisor of any discrepancy or concern
- Heat treat parts, after process bead blast and status to next routing step
- Flat grind or slot grind as required and status to next routing step
- Perform routine cleaning of shop machines and work surfaces
- Verify products to be shipped against picklist, packing slip and sales order recap
- Package parts to be shipped so no damage will occur, verify ship to & ship method is correct for each order
- Process labels and/or bills of lading through appropriate online portal or using paperwork provided by customer/front office
- Inventory and organize shipping supplies, order as needed
- Track attendance and time in the ERP system, practice effective time management
- Abide by safety requirements and procedures
- Comply with all policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors
- Other tasks and duties as required

Manual Machinist/ ID-OD Grinder
- The pay ranges for this position is $21 to $28 per Hour
Summary: This position utilizes manually controlled machines, hand tools and measuring equipment. Work includes the fabrication, modification or repair of products sold by and tools used at Western Gage.
Responsibilities
- Inspect provided material for appearance and conformance to requirements specified on work orders before beginning and after completing any operation; notify supervisor of any discrepancy or concern
- Process parts to print or order specifications
- Processes may include turning, milling, drilling, tapping, deburring
- ID/OD/Flat grind
- Provide input to engineering department on fabrication issues
- Hard chrome plate and black oxide processing
- Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements to .00001, inspect all work pieces in order to detect and remedy defects and insure conformance to specifications
- Track attendance and time in the ERP system, practice effective time management
- Abide by safety requirements and procedures
- Comply with all policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
- Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors
- Other tasks and duties as required
Education and/or Experience:
- Knowledge of machine shop operations and mechanical design
- Ability to read mechanical blue prints
- Some Proficient in Excel, Word and ERP type computer programs
- High School or GED; trade school or college a plus
- Use of measurement equipment including micrometer, dial calipers and indicators, etc.
- Basic math
